In honor of World Refugee Day on June 20 Belmont World Film presents the East Coast premiere of A Season in France by Chadian-born film director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. Partial proceeds benefit the Refugee & Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC), which provides services such as refugee resettlement, asylee case management, counseling, outreach, and education to immigrants and refugees in Greater Boston.
In the film a widower and his two young children flee their war-torn African country for France, where he falls in love with a French woman (Sandrine Bonnaire) who offers shelter for him and his family, until immigration officials come knocking. The film is sponsored by the Consulate General of France in Boston and co-presented by Africans in Boston, African Bridge Network, and Chadians in Boston.
Tickets are available in advance for $11 general admission and $9 seniors and students here or $12 and $10, respectively, on day of show beginning at 7:00 PM at the theater. For more information visit www.belmontworldfilm.org or call 617-484-3980.
