National Psoriasis Foundation’s Northeast Division will be hosting the Inaugural Team NPF Bingo event. It’s not your typical grandma’s bingo!

Team NPF Bingo in Boston will be taking place on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus, MA. The event will include food, drinks, a wine wall, a silent auction, prizes, bingo and TONS of fun!

Psoriasis is a chronic, autoimmune disease that appears on the skin.  According to the National Institute of Health, psoriasis is the most common autoimmune disease in the country affecting more than 8 million U.S. Americans and up to 30 percent of them have or will develop psoriatic arthritis.  In the Northeast area alone, approximately over 200,000 people have psoriatic disease. Psoriasis occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells.  There are five types of psoriasis.  The most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red scaly patches, which can appear on any part of the body.  It can cause the skin to itch, burn, and bleed.  Psoriasis on the hands or feet can prevent people from doing everyday tasks such as writing or walking.  Due to psoriasis being an autoimmune disease those with psoriasis contract viruses very easily and have difficulty fighting off infection.  Ten to thirty percent of people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis, which causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in and around the joints.  Individuals with psoriasis also have an increased risk of developing other serious health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, anxiety, liver and kidney disease, crohn’s disease, depression, and more.  Psoriasis is not contagious and there is no cure!
Psoriatic Disease drastically affects one’s quality of life and NPF is trying to change all that.  The National Psoriasis Foundation does not want this disease to define or confine us.  They inspire each and every individual living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis to defy the limits that our bodies have created. NPF strives to help those affected by providing psoriatic disease research (finding a cure and improving treatments), Education, and Advocacy.  NPF’s work have provided nearly $3 million in research towards a cure in 2016, a one of a kind Patient Navigator Center, Educational seminars for those living with psoriatic disease so their lives can be improved, Advocating at both the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with psoriatic disease

Your support of Team NPF Bingo in Boston is critical to the success of NPF’s mission to find a cure for psoriatic disease and to eliminate its devastating effects through research, advocacy and education.
