“CakeWalk” is a family-friendly, noncompetitive 5K walk that concludes with a fun festival of kid’s activities including a bouncy house, lawn games, face painting, live music, crafts, free snacks and refreshments, and more. The goal this year is to raise $200,000 to ensure that children impacted by homelessness will be able to celebrate their birthday.
This year, participants can also enter to win raffle prizes including Taylor Swift tickets, a Get Smart Home Package, Boston Getaway, and Red Sox tickets. The CakeWalk will have a beautiful cake and a pizza wagon from Montilio’s, as well as a cookie truck from Hot Oven Cookies. Registration is $35 per person. Children 3 years and under are free and do not need to register.
CakeWalk is Birthday Wishes’ signature family-fundraising event and reflects the grassroots nature of their organization and the importance of kids helping kids. Every step taken and every dollar raised by walkers helps ensure that children impacted by homelessness will be able to celebrate their birthday.
About Birthday Wishes: Birthday Wishes is a non-profit that improves and empowers the lives of homeless children and their families by providing joy, play, and hope through the magic of a birthday party. Their goal is to ensure that every child experiencing the trauma of homelessness has the opportunity to celebrate their birthday joyfully, surrounded by family, friends, and others who care. Last year, Birthday Wishes served 5,241 birthday children with 26,190 birthday party attendees.
