SBN is organizing two tours of urban farms in and around Boston as part of our Eat Local Month campaign. This tour is designed to be an experience of urban farming and its links to our growing business of food entrepreneurism in the Boston area. The tour will specifically emphasize urban farms very important position for providing food insecure residents in the community with healthy food access options.

Urban farms in the Boston area include land that is being reclaimed, restored and redesigned, to food forests, and more. This tour will provide a snapshot of the vibrant urban farming community and its intersection of land, culture and food economy in Boston.

Our host Eastie Farm is dedicated to pursuing climate justice, improving food access, and fostering community resilience through the development of interactive urban agricultural spaces and environmental education programs in which residents of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to learn and take part in the production of healthy, locally-grown, and culturally relevant foods.

Ticket proceeds will go towards Eastie Farms and the Sustainable Business Network, and you are welcome to also donate to this Mutual Aid Fund, which helps individuals and families in East Boston who are suffering from food shortage, lack of access to information and resources (due to linguistic isolation or other barriers), and other financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 outbreak and its economic fallout.
