“My lawyer was the first person to say to me, ‘What happened to you was not your fault.’” -VRLC client

The Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) is holding its annual Shining Star Gala at the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse on the Boston waterfront on September 28, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. Please join us along with other premier law firms, businesses, and philanthropic individuals as we celebrate the VRLC’s innovative work on behalf of sexual violence survivors. This year, we are thrilled that activist, journalist, and author Gloria Steinem will be accepting our Leadership Award!

The Victim Rights Law Center provides free, comprehensive legal services for survivors of sexual violence to help them rebuild their lives, and promotes a national movement committed to seeking justice for each and every rape and sexual assault victim.

Please join us for a night of celebratory fun with over 300 friends of the VRLC! The cocktail reception will feature incredible cuisine from local Top Star Restaurants, followed by a brief speaking program including the presentation of the Leadership Award to Gloria Steinem, the Champion Award to Goodwin Procter LLP, the namesake Shining Star Award to pro bono attorney Michael Harriman, and the Courage Award to a VRLC client who is championing the interests of other survivors. Past Gala awardees include actress Ashley Judd, the Boston Globe Spotlight Team, Professor Anita Hill, and Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. It promises to be a very inspiring evening!

The VRLC exists because the criminal justice system alone cannot meet the basic and often immediate needs of victims of sexual violence. It is the first non-profit law center in the country dedicated to using civil legal services to help survivors of sexual violence stabilize their lives in the critical areas of education, employment, housing, privacy, safety, immigration, and financial stability.
