On Saturday, June 3, 2017 the Lupus Research Alliance will be holding its 14th Annual Boston Walk with Us to Cure Lupus. The money raised from this event goes directly to fund the world’s top biomedical lupus research across the country. The Walk takes place at DCR’S Baxter Park at Assembly Row in Somerville, MA.  Our goal this year is to raise over $75,000 with over 450 participants.

Lupus is a complex and difficult to diagnose life altering autoimmune disease, which affects over 1.5 million people in the U.S. alone.  Lupus patient’s symptoms range from kidney failure, neurological difficulties, cardiac concerns, high risk pregnancies and sometimes death.  It is more common than leukemia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis combined and there is no cure.

Born from the merger of three organizations with a common belief in the potential for science to overcome lupus, the Lupus Research Alliance is at the forefront of driving innovative research that can make a difference for people living with the prototypical autoimmune disease.  With that shared conviction, the Board of Directors promises to cover all administrative and operating costs of the organization, ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to funding research programs in order to realize our vision of a world free of lupus.
