The Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights located at Boston Medical Center provides comprehensive support for survivors of torture and refugees from around the world – medical and mental health services, legal services, literacy education and career development. Their work is especially important and especially threatened in the present political climate in the U.S.
All Saints Parish in Brookline is teaming up with Brookline Women Rising to sponsor a drive for items needed by refugees and the BCRHHR to do their work.
Many items are needed by those getting settled and while they heal and wait for their appeals for asylum to be heard, but the most needed items on which we are focusing on are small but important.
Charlie cards with $10-$20
International phone cards
Snacks/drinks for the waiting room (bars, nuts, dried fruit, chips, coffee and cocoa packets, coffee creamer)
Umbrellas (used or new)
Also needed: new car seats, diapers (sizes 3-6), chapstick, sanitary napkins/pads, paper products (napkins, cups, small paper plates), disposable utensils, tissues, toothbrushes and toothpaste, laundry detergent (small containers) deodorant (men’s
and women’s), travel size shampoo, hand and body lotion, padfolio (for job seekers, 8” X 11”), and new or gently used sleeping bags and blankets
