An exhibition of artistically innovative objects, celebrating Gateway Makers as part of the Maker Movement.

Inspired by the “Maker Movement”, Gateway Makers celebrates the artistic innovation found in the creation of objects.  Bending the boundaries of what constitutes “Art” to the mainstream, the “Maker Movement”, like Gateway Arts, fosters a community of raw creation.   Gateway Arts is a “maker space,” a supportive studio environment for adult artists with varying interests and abilities to experiment and create together.  With an array of materials, equipment, and technologies available, Gateway artists build, assemble, stitch, weave, model with clay, draw, paint, and innovate every day.  Gateway artists are Makers.  Consisting of weaving, ceramics, fabric, and folk art, Gateway Makers is a highly eclectic showcase of the dynamic work made in the Gateway studios.  The exhibition highlights the distinct style of each artist.  From the delicate stitched embroideries of Yasmin Arshad and Sidney Perry, to the boldly modeled clay owl by Barbara Brown and the playful papier-mâché banjo by Charles Hurvitz, the works shine with unique expression.  This exhibition is presented by the Gateway Gallery in collaboration with exhibition organizers Lorri Berenberg of the Berenberg Gallery, and Martha Richardson of Martha Richardson Fine Art.  An Artists’ Reception will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., light refreshments will be served.
