Silver Lining Mentoring empowers youth in foster care to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills.  Join us for a community discussion on mentoring and youth in foster care. W are  currently in need of dedicated, caring adults to become Life Skills Mentors to youth with foster care experience. You don’t need a special background to be a mentor, just a desire to be a supportive, consistent presence to a young adult who needs stable support as they develop life skills. Mentors are required to commit to spending 2 evenings a month for a 1 year with their mentee and must be at least 21 years old.

This conversation will give you an overview of our unique programs for youth in foster care and volunteer opportunities currently available.  We’ll have a presentation and an opportunity for Q & A.

Mentors are required to commit to 12 months of service. For the first 12 weeks, mentors support a young person in a one to one relationship in which mentees develop life skills through structured reflection groups. Upon completing the reflection groups, mentors and mentees meet in a community based mentoring model in which they expand on the life skills learned. Mentors must be at least twenty-one years old. Men, people of color and people with foster care experience are especially encouraged to apply to become mentors.

Thank you for your interest in Silver Lining Mentoring, we look forward to meeting you!
